Anna Craker

Anna Mae (McGaver) Craker died April 4, 2018 at Dove Health Care West in Eau Claire.
She was born in Fairchild, WI on August 19, 1928 to Joseph and Myrtle (Edmundson) McGaver. She attended school in Fairchild and graduated from High School in May 1946. She completed one year of college in Eau Claire, WI. Her first job was at Benson Optical doing the banking payroll and credit department. She married Lee Craker on October 15, 1949, at St. Joseph’s Parish in Fairchild, WI. They moved to Eau Claire. They were blessed with three children, Jean, Carol and Duane.
She volunteered for 8 years in the St. James School Library. She was active in the Ladie’s Auxiliary at St.James. She is also a member of the Newman-McGaver Legion auxiliary of Fairchild, WI. The name McGaver is for her brother Leon, killed in WWII. They moved to Altoona, WI in 1971 and were members of St.Mary’s Parish. Anna became employed at Sear’s Credit Department in 1970 and retired in 1986. In March of 1987, she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre (French Polio) and was confined to a wheelchair the rest of her life.
Her happiest times were with her family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed traveling with her family until she was in her wheelchair. She could not walk or do other activities, but still kept up her sense of humor. In June 2011, she moved to Orchard Hills Assisted Living. The family wishes to thank the staff at Orchard Hills for the excellent and enjoyable care she received.
She is survived by her daughters Jean Wiesen of Eau Claire, Carol (Dave) Bollman of Rice Lake, WI and son Duane (Loretta) Craker of Eagan, MN, grandchildren: Phillip (Marie) Bollman, Scott (Crystyal) Bollman, Joe (Kate) Bollman, Melissa (Kelly) Kempken, Shiloh (Bryan) Langgard, and Hunter Wiesen; great grandchildren: Ben, Jack and Anna Bolllman, Megan and Jacob Kempken, Alex and Tyler Bollman, Luke Bollman and Adrian Langgaard, sister Betty Jones, and brother Bernard (Marlys) McGaver, sister-in-law Doris Linsley, Leah Knuth, and Bonnie (Don) Bequette and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lee, September 1994, her sister Delores in infancy, brother Leon in WWII, Brother-in-law Ed Knuth, Kenneth Schultz Bob Jones, and Louis Haenel, sister Helen Schultz, sister-in-law Gloria (Don) Gruenwald, in-laws Nando and Olga Craker and niece Delores Mead,and son-in-law Dale Wiesen.
Anna will join Lee in eternal rest at Calvary Cemetery Lot 266, Section D, grave 3 & 4.
Funeral service will take place at 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703 with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation will take place at the church Tuesday morning from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will take place in the Calvary Cemetery, 4100 S. Hastings Way, Eau Claire, WI 54701 immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. A charity or organization will be determined at a later date.
