Arthur J. Strickert, 74 of Osseo passed away peacefully in the loving care of his daughter and her family Sunday afternoon, October 1, 2017. He was under Mayo Home Hospice care at his daughter’s home in Osseo.
Arthur John Strickert Jr. son of Arthur and Ruth (Johnson) Strickert was born August 28, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in Lombard, IL, and as a child was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Villa Park. He graduated from Willowbrook High School also in Villa Park. From 1970 until 1980 he served as an officer on the Elmhurst Police Department, and then until 1996 he worked as a production foreman at Knight Engineering in Arlington Heights, IL. In 1996 he moved to Fairchild where he owned and operated Pine View Sports Club on Highway 10 between Fairchild and Osseo. During this time through the bar he sponsored softball , volley ball , darts, bowling and horse shoe teams. After the death of his mother from cancer he sponsored a successful cancer drive at Pine View which was very meaningful to him. He also opened his door to various groups to hold meetings, such as the Osseo American Legion Auxiliary. After he sold Pine View he worked at Menard’s Distribution Center in Elk Mound from 2003 until 2010. Since then to stay busy he worked part time at the Osseo Recycling Center and shuttled cars for Osseo Ford until ill health forced his total retirement. Since 2015 he had lived in Osseo. Art was an avid Chicago Bear and Cubs fan and a collector of sport memorabilia. If you ever stopped at his home you were aware of his interest in history as he often had the history channel on or reading about the past. Living near his grandchildren he had the opportunity to follow all their sporting and school events which brought him much joy. Art had a wonderful sense of humor and love for his family and friends. He had many long time friends that he never lost contact with, especially Ada, Bonnie, Stan and Judy.
Art will be dearly missed by his 2 daughters, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; daughter, Melissa (Missy) and William Courtois of Osseo; their children Chris, Sammy, Brandi and Evan; and his great grandson, Kamdon; daughter, Barbara and Edward Muniz of Elgin, Il; their children, Brandin, Mallory, Wesley and Courtney; children of Art’s son Donald who has passed away, Megan and Joshua. He is also survived by his brother David and Sue Strickert of Naperville, IL; sister Linda Flaherty of Chicago; nephew John; nieces Lisa and Hayley; and great niece Janelle. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruth; son Donald; and siblings, Jean Kukla, Thomas, Cheryl and James Strickert.
