Augusta One Act wins at state competition
The Augusta One Act Play traveled to Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wis., to take part in the state level competition between troupes and returned home with a number of honors for their performance.
This year’s play, “Help Wanted,” is a parody highlighting the struggles of teenagers and their attempts to find employment during their time in high school. A big group with half a dozen seniors, the Augusta troupe was honored among large, cooperative groups from schools such as Kenosha.
An honor among those groups, Augusta returned triumphant with the Critics’ Choice Award for outstanding ensemble work. Only two other schools received an award of that stature. Their director took home an award as well.
Actors Kayne Korger, Beth Marino, Eric Huth and James Goings all received individual acting awards for their performances within the group.
