Elaine Goss

Elaine Goss, 78, of Osseo, WI, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center, Pigeon Falls, WI. She was born March 6, 1939 to Wayne and Helen (Conrad) Johnson. She has finished her adventure here on earth, and has now moved on to her greatest adventure of all.
Elaine grew up in Mellen, WI and was a 1957 graduate of Mellen High School. She then went on to receive her teaching certificate at Ashland Teaching College in 1959.
Following her schooling, Elaine was united in marriage to Clarence Goss on June 4, 1960, in Mellen, WI, and together the couple has lived in Osseo ever since. Elaine worked at the Thompson Valley School, rural Osseo, for 2 years before she decided to stay home and raise her family.
She enjoyed reading, crafting, and cake decorating. She was the go to person for all occasions for all the cakes needed. Elaine spent many years volunteering at the Whitehall Nursing Home. She would help out with their activities, and spent time helping the ladies paint their nails.
Elaine was Ma, Mom, and Maw to dozens of kids over the years. One of her inherited children put it so well: “Goodbye to a woman who had nothing but kindness and love in her heart. Shannon, Sharon, Sheila and Marty, you were so well loved. Your mom opened her home and heart to so many of us kids growing up. What an amazing woman! I love you all. Hold those loving memories near and Ma will always be with you.”
One of her great-nieces wrote: “When I was a little girl whenever I would go shopping with my mom, without fail we would run into one of her aunt's. And I would say "oh no not those old ladies". As I grew older I loved when we would run into those "old ladies". In particular, this lady. She always had a kind word, a funny story, and a joyful laugh. You will be greatly missed Aunt Elaine. You will forever live in the hearts of those you shared your joy with.”
She is survived by her husband of almost 57 years, Clarence; son, Martin Goss of Osseo; daughters, Sharon Mathews of Blair, Shannon Goss of Osseo, and Sheila (John) Kutchera of Humbird; grandchildren, Danielle Goss, John (Kaitlynn Mefferd) Kutchera, Cole, Nicholas, Luke Kutchera; great grandchildren, Isabel Steele; sister, Sharon Hallberg of Ironwood, MI; special niece, Heather (Kurt) Norgren; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Helen; granddaughter, Heather Steele; son-in-law, Greg; brother-in-law, Butch.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church, E10455 Mallard Rd., Fall Creek, WI. This is located between Brackett and Foster. Father Derek Sakowski will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Family and friends are invited for visitation Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a rosary being held at 7:00 p.m., at Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, WI, and again on Wednesday one hour prior to mass at church.
