Ellen (Wik) Halverson

Ellen Hannah (Wik) Halverson, 73, of Strum, died Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Osseo Hospital.
Ellen was born December 11, 1943 in Eau Claire to Carl and Ruth (Gunderson) Wik She graduated from Osseo High School in 1962. After high school she attended Swedish School of Nursing in Minneapolis. She worked as a registered nurse at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire for a number of years.
On January 3, 1970 she married Dennis Halverson at Evanger Lutheran Church in rural Independence. Shortly after being married the couple bought the family farm in the Town of Unity, Trempealeau County and operated it for several years along with Halverson’s Orchard.
Ellen was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Eau Claire and Gideons International Auxiliary.
Ellen is survived by her children and their families, Pamela (Jon) Lung and children Nathan and Drew of Brooklyn Park, MN, Michael (Lorna) Halverson and children, Lydia, Twila, Mikayla, Sean and Sienna, of Strum, Julie (Andy) Nehring and children, Micah, Evan and Matthew of Whitehall, John (Sarah) Halverson and children, Cody, Tate and Hallie Jo of Valley City, ND, James (Lisa) Halverson and children, Thaddeus, Theadora, Hezekiah and Uzziah of Papua, New Guinea. She is further survived by two brothers, Ronald (Marlene) Wik of Colfax, Lowell (Linda) Wik of Ramsey, MN, and two sisters, Sharon (Dennis) Sandstrom of Red Wing, MN, Audrey (Arnold) Sieg of Osseo, several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Dennis and her parents, Carl and Ruth Wik.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Salem Baptist Church in Eau Claire. Pastor Rob Faircloth will officiate. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at West Beef River Cemetery in rural Strum.
Friends may call from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
