Florence Eileen Witmer, age 71 years, 7 months, 15 days died at her home in rural Conrath, WI on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from kidney failure.
Florence was born February 22, 1946, to Kenneth and Frances (Wymore) Leslie. She was the youngest of four daughters. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth, was baptized, and was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church.
She graduated from Flambeau High School in 1964.
On September 11, 1965 she married Claire Witmer of rural Sheldon. They were blessed with five daughters and two sons.
After living a short time near Ladysmith, they moved to a farm south of Glen Flora where they began their years of dairy farming. In 1976 they moved to a farm near Augusta. In 1995 they returned to the Conrath-Sheldon area. In 2012 they moved back to the farm where Florence grew up and their dairying days were over.
She enjoyed her family, church family and her many friends. Gardening, sewing, piecing quilts and reading were some of her interests.
Florence is survived by her husband, Claire, and their children Phyllis (Jake) Amstutz, Dalton Gardens, ID; Shirley, Thorp; Carla (Mark) Byers, Augusta; Brenda (James) Yoder, Montgomery, IN; Lynette (Eddie) Montero, Conrath; Eldon (Marilyn Schrock), Sparta; and Roy (Teresa Good), Delmar, DE. Also surviving are 11 grandsons, 12 granddaughters 4 great-granddaughters; her sisters, Pauline (Dave) Lundgren, Sheldon; Marilyn Virginia Leslie, Cedar Rapids, IA; and Bonnie (Walter) Simmons, Cedar Rapids, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 11, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 pm. and 6:00-8:00 pm.; the funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 12, 2017, all at the Shiloh Mennonite Church, Conrath, with John Weaver, Dan Korver, Phil Smucker and James Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Mennonite Church Cemetery.
