Irma Anderson

Irma Anderson, 98, of Osseo, WI, died on Thursday morning, January 4, 2018 at Dove Healthcare in Osseo. Born in Price, WI, on April 12, 1919, to Albert and Louise Dobrenz, Irma came yodeling her way into the world and left it a better place for all who knew her.
She grew up in Price and later traveled to South Milwaukee, where she met Carl Anderson, whom she married on December 25, 1938. Together they raised six children, endured the Great Depression, survived WWII in which Carl served in the US Navy and Irma worked in a factory which made raincoats for the GIs. They lived in Milwaukee until 1954, moved to Pewaukee where they lived for a year, then finally to Levis, WI, near Osseo, WI, on the Lester and Marie Lund farm which was home to the Anderson family for nearly 60 years. After Carl died in 1998, Irma stayed in her home until she moved to the Osseo Nursing Home in 2014.
She worked in the laundry at Osseo Hospital where she appreciated the friendship of many. Over the years she sang at funerals with Carl, played the accordion and guitar and of course, yodeled upon request. She was a member of VFW Post #8514 Auxiliary in Osseo.
Irma was an active member of Price Lutheran Church and then of South Beef River Lutheran Church. Her faith in God and Jesus carried her through good times and bad and that faith was the foundation for the family.
Irma's love for her family was shown in her words of teaching to the children, but it was also demonstrated in her kitchen. She turned the most basic of ingredients available into a banquet, cooking for many years in her kitchen on an old wood-burning kitchen range, turning out everything from baked squirrel, venison, or chicken to her signature dessert, lemon pie.
She is survived by her children, Glenn (Sandy) Anderson of Spooner, Linda (Stanley) Paulson of Osseo, Gary (Peg) Anderson of Osseo, Mark (Vickie) Anderson of Osseo and Jeff (Karen) Anderson of Eau Claire; daughter-in-law, Dorinda Anderson of Osseo; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, and her son, Randy; her sister, Betty Holman, and her brothers, Reinhold, Ferdinand, and Alfred Dobrenz.
Thanks be to God for the life of Irma Suzanna Anderson.
PS: On the day before she died, a group of us gathered at the nursing home for lunch and visiting with Irma. Upon leaving, her grandson asked, "Who will you be dancing with tonight, Gramma?" She said, "You'd be surprised who I will be dancing with tonight!" Did she know something we didn't?
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, at South Beef River Lutheran Church in rural Osseo, with Rev. Sandra Hutchens officiating. Burial followed in Levis Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Monday.
