Lois Marie Hunchar, 95, former longtime resident of Osseo, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, March 12, 2018, after a short stay at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She had been living with her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Larry Gunderson for the last seven years.
Lois was born November 3, 1922 in Valley City, ND to Louis and Mary (Uloth) Risa.
After graduating from high school Lois moved to Seattle, WA where she met her future husband, Andrew Hunchar. They were married on July 2, 1944. They returned to Valley City where their four children were born; Bonnie, Susan, James and Dennis. They moved to Osseo in 1954. Andrew preceded her in death on October 2, 2007.
Lois was a telephone operator with the local telephone company in Osseo before working at Waldo’s Red & White Grocery in Osseo for several years.
Lois is survived by her daughter Susan (Larry) Gunderson of Eau Claire; son Dennis (Nora) Hunchar of Hudson; five grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to her husband Andrew, she was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Mary; son James Hunchar; daughter Bonnie Senn; brother Kenneth Risa.
The family would like to thank Mayo Home Health and Hospice for their care.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date followed by burial in Osseo Cemetery.
