Marion Lee-Sampson
Marion Rudella Lee-Sampson, 97, of Osseo, died Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Dove Health Care in Osseo.
Marion was born May 4, 1920 in Coon Valley, WI to Rudolph and Mamie (Lee) Solberg.
Marion married Milton Lee on February 1, 1941 at the parsonage in Pigeon Falls. Together they farmed in the Beaver Creek area of Jackson County and while Milton worked in construction, Marion operated the farm. Milton died on April 18, 1964. Shortly after that she moved to Osseo. She later met and Married Andy Sampson and they were married on June 18, 1970 and together they operated various restaurants in the area including The Chief Inn in Osseo. Andy preceded her in death on August 27, 1987. In July of 1988 she moved into Woodlawn Apartments in Osseo where she lived until she moved to the nursing home in August of 2010.
Marion loved working with her hands doing needlework, teaching herself to play the piano, collecting recipes and taking drives with Andy, to visit other restaurant owners in the area.
Marion is survived by her daughters, Karen (Ralph) Swanson of Puyallup, WA, Donna Higley of Altoona, Virginia (Luther) Ottosen of Ham Lake, MN and Lois (Jerry) McNallie of Eau Claire; one sister Delores Erickson of Osseo; eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands, Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Mamie; son-in-law Steve Higley; one sister, Dorothy Horstman; five brothers, Paul, Alden, Irvin, Clifford and Arnold; Three half-sisters, Ida Melby, Gladys Peterson and Alma Spears two half-brothers, Raymond and Lloyd Solberg.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osseo. Rev. Terry Lorenz will be officiating. Burial will be in South Beef River Lutheran Cemetery, rural Osseo.
Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday.
