Otis Dahl

Otis C. Dahl, 94, of Eau Claire died on March 24, 2018, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. He was born in the Town of Cleveland, in rural Fairchild, WI, on July 18, 1923, the son of Thorvald and Mabel (Bloom) Dahl.
After graduation from Fairchild High School and working on the family farm, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, which was housed in Hixton, WI, during WWII.
On July 17, 1943, Otis married Zelma Johnston. They continued to farm on the family farm until moving to Black River Falls in 1949. Otis worked for Black River Falls Wholesale as a salesman. In 1965, the family moved to Eau Claire, where Otis worked for Milwaukee Cheese Company.
Otis loved the family farm, always had a song to sing, and could come up with a joke at a moment’s notice.
Otis is survived by his children, Sharon (Joel) Radke of Menomonie, WI, Gordon (Carol) Dahl of Burlington, WA, and Michael (Jackie) Dahl of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren, Mark (Lori) Radke, Craig Radke, Andrew (Erin Anderson) Dahl, Erik (Martie Campbell) Dahl, Libbie (Jake Ellinghuysen) Dahl, Aubree (Soha) Javaherian, Jessie Dahl and Kelce Gold; four great-grandchildren, Mikenna Radke, Travis Radke, Vera Anderson-Dahl and Tucker Ellinghuysen; sister, Eunice (Franklin) Johnston of Eau Claire; as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Zelma; infant son, Danny; and son, John R. Dahl.
The family would like to thank the staff at Orchard Hills where he lived for the past three years and five months for their kindness and thoughtfulness. Thank you, too, to the staff at Dove Healthcare West for your care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Transportation Fund or to the donor's favorite charity.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar St. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Josh Toufar officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Hill Crest Cemetery, Town of Garfield, WI, Jackson County.
