ALVIN A. BISHOP “Red”

Alvin Arthur “Red” Bishop (80) of Plum City died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand. He was born September 3, 1935 in Frankfort Township, Pepin County, WI; son of Alvin and Blanch (Bignell) Bishop. He attended Arkansaw area schools. Following school he worked at Red Wing Shoe Factory for two years before joining the U.S. Army. After serving two years in the military he returned to work at Red Wing Shoe Factory for twenty-five years.
On November 28, 1958 he married Nancy Williams in Iowa. They owned Red & Nancy’s Bar & Grill in Arkansaw for three years. Red also worked various jobs in the area. He enjoyed socializing, shooting pool, dancing, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Plum City, WI; children, Randy Bishop of Plum City, WI, Todd Bishop of Durand, WI, Tammy Bishop of Arkansaw, WI; six grandchildren, Amber, Jasmine, Kristopher, Austin, Paige and Miah; five great-grandchildren, Zoey, Dawson, Bryan, Addyson and Mariska; brothers, Terry (Virginia)Bishop, Larry (Pat) Bishop; sisters, Birdie Gibertson, Joyce Roper, Linda Brezzee, Lucille Rose; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Johnny; sisters, Virginia Van Thomma, Debra Knutson and Lorraine Bishop.
A Celebration of Life with Military rites was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Molly’s On Main in Plum City. Friends called one hour prior to the service at Molly’s.
