Alyce C. (Westphal) Bertelson

Alyce C. (Westphal) Bertelson of Eau Claire, WI went to her heavenly home on Saturday September 30, 2017. Born to William and Alvina (Lembke) Westphal on July 11, 1925. She grew up in Stillwater, MN and married Wayne Bertelson on October 28, 1948. They started their family and lived in Stillwater and Bayport, MN. In 1961, they moved to Durand, WI where they owned a hardware store. In 1975 the family moved to Eau Claire and Alyce and Wayne both worked at FS TV & Appliance.
Alyce’s interests included winters in Arizona with Wayne, traveling with her cousin, and cooking Holiday dinners for her family. She had an uncanny memory of everyone’s birthdays, anniversaries and ages and enjoyed celebrating them with cards.
She enjoyed quilting, friendship group, and serving meals at Trinity. She cherished spending time with dear friends, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
For the last three years Alyce has lived at Havenwood in Glenwood City, WI where she liked story time, bingo and making new friends.
She is survived by son, John (Sally) Bertelson, daughters, Janine (Bill) Seiffert, Janice (Paul) Rasmussen, and Cheryl Cummings. Grandchildren, Ryan Bertelson, Daniel (Kristi) Bertelson, Stacey (Adam) La Plount, Ross (Heather) Seiffert, Lisa (Morgan) Krueger, Matthew (Bre) Rasmussen, Chad (Lisa) Rasmussen, Brandon, Rachel, and Nicole Cummings, and 9 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Alice Bertelson, and Betty Evans, nieces, Janet Anthony and Dolly Iselt, and many friends. Alyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne, three sisters, Lydia, Erna, and Ella, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd, Eau Claire, WI 54701. Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday from 11 am until the time of service. Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
