Area officers led on high-speed chase

The Pepin County Sheriff's Office received a tip from a concerned citizen on Thursday, January 22, that a male with multiple felony warrants was at a residence in the Village of Stockholm. Deputies from the Pepin County Sheriff's Department, Pierce County Sheriff's Department, and Village of Pepin Police Department were sent to the residence.
While an officer was waiting for back-up to arrive, the suspect left the residence in a motor vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, and a pursuit began, reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour.
Spike strips were deployed at the Pierce/Pepin County line, and two of the vehicle's tires were deflated. The vehicle continued into Maiden Rock, Wis., and onto the ice of the Mississippi River.
The vehicle became disabled on the ice, and the suspect then fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the male was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as Todd M. Longsdorf, 49. He is being held in the Pepin County Jail on five felony warrants and three misdemeanor warrants. The warrants are for burglary charges and drug charges.
