Barbara J. “Boots” Hayden

Barbara J. “Boots” Hayden age 67 of Durand, died Friday August 18, 2017 at her home with her family by her side.
Boots was born June 9, 1950 in Durand. She was the daughter of Walter L. and Eldora M. (McKernon) Hovland and grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School in 1968. Boots married David R. Hayden November 11, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand. Boots worked for 11 years at the Durand Bakery. She then worked for the Durand Coast to Coast, the Durand Courthouse, Countryside Coop-Ace Hardware and Econo Foods until ill health forced her to retire.
Boots enjoyed shopping, working with flowers, playing cards and she was a huge Elvis Presley fan.
Boots is survived by her husband of 44 years, David, two sisters, Patricia (Daniel) Seipel of Pepin, Phyllis Lee of Durand, two brothers, Walter “Sonny” (friend Diane) Hovland of Nelson, Randy (Nancy) Hovland of Durand, many nieces, nephews, seven Godchildren, and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday August 24, 2017 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Thursday night. Private burial will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery-Lima, Durand.
