Bernard Elwyn Marcks (85) of Buffalo City, WI formerly of Pepin died Thursday, February 28, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Wabasha, MN. He was born October 17, 1933 in Frankfort Township, Pepin County, WI; son of William and Ruth (Jahnke) Marcks.
He graduated from Arkansaw High School. Following graduation he served in the United States Army in Germany. On May 26, 1956 he married Charlotte Myers. Together they lived in Ella and Little Plum Valley where they farmed. Bernard and Charlotte later divorced.
Bernard served on the Frankfort Township and the ASCS Boards. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and telling stories. His grandchildren have many fond memories of him on the farm and his sense of humor.
He is survived by his children, Debra Hoyt (Robert Anderson) of Arkansaw, Randy (Kim) Marcks of Pepin, Scott (Julie) Marcks of Pepin, Rebecca Marcks of Menomonie, Brad (Ruth) Marcks of Pepin, Brenda Coan Marcks (Wes Coan) of Wabasha, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Marcks of Janesville, WI; sister, Phyllis (Lynn) Seyffer of Durand, WI; and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth (Jahnke) Marcks; son, Charles Marcks; brothers, Bob, Ray, Ron; sisters, Joanne, Lois, Carol, Virginia and Joyce.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm with a time of remembrance at 6:30 pm at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin, WI. To express on-line condolences, visit obituaries at www.goodrichfh.com.
