CHERYL GILLES

Cheryl M. Gilles, 59, of Bruce, passed away quietly on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at home.
She was born on March 4, 1956 in Plum City, the daughter of Wayne and Virginia Gilles.
Cheryl graduated from Pepin High School in 1974, and from UW-River Falls in 1978. She came to Bruce in August 1979 and proceeded to teach Physical Education and coached until she retired in 2010.
Cheryl taught 32 years, she enjoyed teaching and made a lasting impression on many of her students, some of whom stopped in on occasion to visit.
Cheryl was a loving, hardworking woman, full of laughter and always brought a smile to your face. She faced breast cancer with strength and courage- doing it her way, as she did with most things in life. Notably Cheryl always seemed to want to get the last word and a few days before her death quoted Winston Churchill, “I am ready to meet my maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.” One could fill volumes with stories about all the great things Cheryl has done and the fun she had doing them.
Cheryl is survived by her wife, Deb Bricco, her mother Virgina, her brothers Steve, (Rose), Jeff (Colleen), David (Mark), Randy (Peter), and a sister Patty (Tom Harding), and many nieces and nephews. She also had a very extended family on the Bricco side as well.
Cheryl goes to join her father, Wayne, in a better place.
A celebration of Cheryl’s life will take place on September 6, at J & S in Ladysmith between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcomed.
