Donavon J. Osheim

Donavon J. Osheim, age 76, died on Sunday December 6, 2020 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, WI.
Don was born on February 12, 1944 in Buffalo Center, IA to Margaret (Hesby) and John Osheim.
He graduated from Emmons High School in Emmons, MN and later the Austin Vo. Tech in Austin, MN. He joined the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Tolovana during the Vietnam War.
On April 28, 1968, he married Pauline Bidne at Lime Creek Lutheran Church in rural Emmons, MN. They moved to Waipahu, Hawaii where Don worked at the Pearl Harbor power plant. They returned to the mainland and Don was employed at Dairyland Power Coop at Alma, WI until his retirement. Don and his wife lived in Wabasha and then Kellogg, MN where Don served as Mayor. In 1983, they moved to their hobby farm near Alma and joined Lyster Lutheran Church where Don served on the Church Council.
Don was a member of the Nelson VFW, Post 6201. Don enjoyed hunting, farming and had been an antique tractor puller.
Don is survived by his wife, Pauline; two daughters, Christal (Mike) Wakeling of Glenwood City and Marnie (Scott) Mercer of Arcadia; son, Cody (Emely) Osheim of Round Rock, TX; grandchildren, Cassidy, Wyatt, Blake, Westen, Cole, Heather, Addison, Olivia, Colton and Paisley; his sisters, Barbara (Clarence) Heavner and Sharon Wakefield both of Albert Lea, MN; brother, David (Becky) Osheim of Northwood, IA; also by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virjean Osheim and Carolyn Schoenrock; brothers in law, Clyde Wakefield and Ralph Schoenrock; and nephew, Mitch Wakefield.
A private family service was held. Burial was at Lyster Lutheran Cemetery.
