Gordon Raymond Hoffman

Gordon Raymond Hoffman (91) of Arkansaw, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at his farm on Maple Ridge. He was born July 11, 1926 in the Town of Union, Pierce County, WI; son of Marshall and Elizabeth (Dohr) Hoffman.
On November 15th, 1947 Gordon married Ardoth (Eula) Kelton and, after a brief stay in Baraboo, WI, they spent the rest of their 65 years together farming in Pepin County. Gordon and Eula were true partners in work and life and, during Eula’s final years, she was patiently and lovingly cared for by her devoted husband.
Gordon was a proud graduate of Plum City High School where he maintained an active interest and served over the years as a school board member, bus driver, and committee member. Gordon established a college scholarship fund for which he personally interviewed and approved applicants as recently as last spring.
Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing, crosswords, reading and playing cards; but nothing brought Gordon more joy than his family. He spent endless hours with his children and grandchildren enjoying the family cabin, playing cards, doing puzzles, telling jokes, sharing favorite songs/poems and keeping up on everyone’s plans and passions. Gordon looked forward to making maple syrup each spring and enjoyed giving it away as much as making it. Gordon was a self-appointed historian who kept the family lineage and the history of 150+ year old Hoffman Family Farm alive. He took great pride in his hometown and the people who lived in it and was kept young at heart in recent years by his close friend, Joy Heath.  Gordon loved sports including the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. He had a special love for baseball and enjoyed playing on the town team in his younger days. Gordon found the good in people and was openly grateful for everything from a friendly hello to a Sunday drive.
Gordon will be forever remembered by his children Gary (Suzanne) of Middleton, WI, Gene of Audubon, PA, Bonnie Juaire of Minneapolis; his grandchildren Heather and Ryan Hoffman, Marette (Justin) Hahn, Chloe and Ian Juaire; and his siblings, brothers, Lowell (Irene) Hoffman of Plum City, WI, Vaughn (Muriel) Hoffman of Durand, WI; his friend Joy Heath; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Gordon is preceded in death by his wife, Eula Hoffman; son, Gregory; parents, Marshall and Elizabeth (Dohr) Hoffman; brothers, Miles, Neil and Norman Hoffman; sisters, Gladys Fleishauer and Verona Brady; and an infant brother.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 am, Friday November 17, 2017 at the Arkansaw United Methodist Church with Pastor Lisa Weaver officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand is assisting the family. To express condolences on-line visit obituaries at www.goodrichfh.com
In lieu in flowers, donations to Arkansaw United Methodist Church or the Plum City High School Education Foundation would be very much appreciated by the family.
