As he grew older his dad thought he’d be a good equipment operator and he was very good…All through high school he worked in the family business and several other jobs. They had 4 horses that Guy cared for daily, they were great and he rode a lot…
After high school he married Sherry Glasgow. Together they had a daughter, Nikki.
They later divorced. In March of 1979 he married Kathy Krause. They had two children, Sadie and Guy. They later divorced. He then spent several years bouncing around trucking, he enjoyed it. During this time he married Shelia. They had a son, Glenn. They later divorced.
Guy went to work for Marten Transport in 1983, best job he ever had. This is where he met Patti Schram, who was and is the love of his life. They married in June of 1994…through Marten; he was able to go to college and graduated with honors. He was very pleased with this accomplishment. Patti helped him stay focused with his job and college. He stayed in the trucking business until he retired at the age of 62.
Some of the positions he held in his work career were Terminal Manager at Marten Transport and US Special Delivery and Regional Sales Director for US Special Delivery and Sales Director for NW Wisconsin at USF Holland… He was the safety director at Marten in Ontario, CA; Terminal Manager for Marten in Jonesboro, GA, working for Marten was the best.
He is survived by his wife, Patti Palmer of Durand; his children, Nikki (Brad) Quade, Sadie (Bob) Elick, Guy Palmer and Glenn (Ashley) Palmer; step-sons, Kyle (Amy) McMahon and Cody (Lauren) McMahon; grandchildren; sisters, Lyall Jean (David) Noreika and Connie King; brothers, James (Debra) Palmer and Glenn Palmer; sister-in-law, Kathy Palmer; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Marie (Lyman) Palmer; sister, Marlene Palmer; brother, George W. Palmer, Jr.; nephews, George and Tom Palmer; brother-in-law, Richard King; sister-in-law, Karen Palmer.
