Henry Frank William Schroeder

Henry Frank William Schroeder, age 102, of Pepin, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Pepin Health and Rehab, Pepin, WI
He was born on September 12, 1916 in Fountain City to the late Paul Poeppel and Lena Schroeder. Following the death of his mother at the age of 3 and his father at the age of 7, Henry was adopted his uncle Henry Schroeder.
On October 27, 1937, Henry was united in marriage to Caroline Oesau and together, they raised five children. Caroline preceded Henry in death in 2006.
Henry, during his younger years worked at various farms until in 1961 he and his wife purchased a farm in Trout Creek near Alma. Henry was also employed with Schruts Mfg. in Pepin and Tri-State Construction building bridges. He found great pride in working with his son at Schroeder Construction until his retirement in 1979. It was then Henry, with the help of his own children, built a home in Pepin where he and his wife would reside ever since.
Henry was a longtime and faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. He enjoyed time spent fishing, taking rides to the casino or just traveling to La Crosse to spend time playing cards with his family. All of these moments were never spent without his loving wife, Caroline at his side. Henry will be remembered as a man of great faith and integrity with a deep and special love for his entire family.
Henry will be deeply missed by his 4 children, Betty Wieland of Nelson, Vernon “Sam” (Karen) Schroeder, Joanne (Arnie) Seifert and James (Nancy) Schroeder all of Pepin; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; also by nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Caroline; his son and daughter in law, Allen and Val Schroeder; son in law, LaVerne “Jr” Wieland; also by 1 brother and 4 sisters.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Alma with Pastor Michelle Rem officiating. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Pepin.
Visitation was held on January 4, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma and again on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
