Kenneth Marvin Schultz (80) of Pepin, WI died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his home. He was born February 9, 1937 in Omemee, ND; son of Everett and Florence (Hasenwinkel) Schultz. He attended Omemee and Bottineau schools. Following school Ken worked various construction jobs.
On August 2, 1959 he married Darlene Brekke in Velva, ND. They moved to different areas around the country as Ken worked construction. In 1970 the family moved to Fremont, NE where Ken worked for Commonwealth Electric. In 1980 they moved to Pepin, WI where Ken worked as a troubleman lineman for NSP, (now Xcel Energy) until his retirement in 2002.
Following his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, spending winters in Arizona and running parts for McIntosh Motorsports. Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and snowmobiling. He was an avid Twins and Packers fan. His real passion was horses; raising them, trail rides and horse shows. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren’s activities and sports. His grandchildren will remember him most for the stories and wisdom that he shared with them over the years.
Ken was a longtime member of the Pepin Lions Club. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Schultz of Pepin, WI; son, Mark (Edythe) Schultz of Fremont, NE; daughter, Dawn (Barry) Terpstra of Stockholm, WI; son, Mike (Wendy) Schultz of Pepin, WI; grandchildren, Danni (Brad) Noel, Matt Schultz, Alanna (Seth) York, Steven Schultz, Nikki (Zach) Gilles, Kelli Schultz, Casie (Trevor) Evenson, Kristopher Schultz, Cori Terpstra, Andi Terpstra, Wyatt Schultz; two great-grandsons, Landon Noel and Knox Gilles; mother, Florence Schultz; siblings, Duane Schultz, Doris Leno, Gloria (Wesley) Nickelson, Jay Schultz (Nan), Janice (Dennis) Schmidt, Dennis (Jeanette) Schultz, Connie (Gary) Sivertson, Jeff Schultz; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Everett Schultz; an infant sister; brother-in-law, Adam Leno.
Memorial services were held at 11:00 am Monday, October 9, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin, WI with Pastor Karna Marks officiating. Friends called from 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
