LaVerle Florence (Seyffer) Hince

LaVerle Florence (Seyffer) Hince, 91 of Pepin, WI passed away Wednesday, July 8th ,2020 after a short battle with cancer.
She was born on June 11, 1929, to Louis and Florence (Jahnke) Seyffer and grew up on Big Hill in rural Pepin, WI. After attending Big Hill Grade School, she went to Durand High School for her freshman year having to live with another family to do so until bus service became available in Pepin where she completed her education at Pepin High School.
After a chance meeting at Kirk’s Pavilion, a community dance hall, she met Vernon Hince. Then after a courtship they married on Oct. 5, 1948 and were together for 67 years. They farmed and raised their family on Farm Hill rural Pepin, WI., until retiring to Pepin in 1991 remaining there the rest of her life.
LaVerle was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active in the ladies group serving lunches at funerals, and auctions as well as sewing dozens of book bags for underprivileged children. She loved gardening and always had large bountiful gardens of fruits and vegetables along with some flowers. After a morning of baking bread and washing clothes with a wringer washer, she would get on the riding lawn mower saying that it was relaxing and peaceful. She enjoyed nature. She loved sitting and just listening to the birds sing and could identify them by their song. LaVerle and Vernon enjoyed traveling with family and friends to numerous places around the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska as well as Canada. She was a caregiver to many and loved visiting with family and friends. In later years she entertained her grandchildren and great grandchildren with stories about things she did and experienced while growing up. LaVerle created several books on family history and could tell you how someone was related to the family for generations reciting a lot of the genealogy from just memory alone.
She is survived by her children, Beverly (Larry) Anderson, Durand, WI, Duane (Bonnie Mcknight), Pepin,WI, LaVonne Hince, Arkansaw, WI, Lenis Hince, Pepin, WI, Elaine(Edward) Hartung, Menomonie, WI; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lou Seyffer and Maxine Seyffer; extended family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Vernon; an infant son, Galen; her parents; infant granddaughter, Cortney Hince; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Hince; brothers, Archie and Vaughn Seyffer; step granddaughter, Jodi Scheitel.
Due to Covid 19, private services will be held on Saturday July 11, 2020. Internment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Pepin, WI. Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand is assisting the family. To express online condolences, visit obituaries at www.goodrichfh.com
