Leland “Bud” Lyon

Leland “Bud” Lyon, age 97 of Hudson, passed away November 12, 2017 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. Leland was born January 16, 1920 in South Dakota, the son of Harry and Mabel (Leach) Lyon. After his mother’s death, Leland was separated from his family and moved to live with his sister in Cornell, WI where he began working at the age of 13. Bud proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Bud was united in marriage to Myra June Casaw for 59 years. Their union was blessed with 3 sons, Robert, Thomas, and Gary. Bud worked as a milk hauler for many years for Ed Mayer & Company, eventually purchasing the business and operating it until his retirement in 1982. To many in the Hudson, Roberts, Baldwin and Hammond area, Bud was known as the “Milk Man.”
Most important to Bud was his family, he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren with all his heart and treasured their visits. He cherished his time with his sons on winter getaways to the West Coast and Florida. Bud was a long time devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson. In his earlier years, Bud enjoyed the peacefulness of the outdoors deer hunting. He delighted in playing bingo and cards, especially cribbage up until his final days. Bud was a humble man, with a positive attitude, a friendly smile, and wasn’t a stranger to anyone, as he loved visiting with those around him.
Bud is survived by his sons, Robert (Kathy), Thomas (Rita), and Gary (Irene); his dear grandchildren, his dear grandchildren, Kirsten (Kevin) Langstraat, Chris (Anna) Lyon, Kari (John) Peterson, Steve (Janet) Leonard, Shelley (Louie) Leiberg, Aimee (Todd) Whittlef; great grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
A Memorial Service Honoring Bud’s Life will take place 2:00 PM Saturday, November 18, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine St., Hudson, with Pastor Zachary Wilson officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place one hour prior to the service. Military honors representing Bud’s service to his country will take place immediately follow the service at church, with a reception following. Interment will take place at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or First Presbyterian Church of Hudson.
