Margaret V. “Margee” Ott
Margaret V. “Margee” Ott, age 67 of Baldwin WI, died on Wednesday morning, March 23, 2016 at the Baldwin Care Center. Margee was born November 21, 1948 in Joliet, Illinois to parents Dr. Fred and Amelia (nee Thoren) Whitlark. The family moved to Amery, Wisconsin, where Margee would graduate from Amery High School with the Class of 1967. Margee also reigned as “Miss Amery”, and was a runner-up in the miss Eau Claire pageant. Margee would further her education at UW Eau Claire, where she earned cum laude honors upon graduation with degrees in English and History. Margee would go on to earn her Masters degree in Art from UW Stout. Margee would meet the love of her life, Howard, in a history class at UW Eau Claire. The two were united in marriage on July 1, 1972 in Amery WI, and their union would be blessed with a son, Erich.
Though she just had one son, Mrs. Ott literally had hundreds of kids from her more than 30 years of teaching in the Plum City School District. While there, Margee coordinated the Senior class trips to New York City, was a cheerleading advisor, and after her retirement, would often substitute teach whenever she got the chance. Margee loved geography, travel, art, painting, sculpting, jewelry making, scrapbooking, and reading, especially romance novels. Margee also played the organ at her church for many years. Above all, Margee was a devoted wife, a loving mom and grandma, a passionate teacher, and the kindest friend that anyone could ask for. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margee was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ott; her parents; uncle, Stewart Morrison; and brother-in-law, Al Hermes. Margee is survived by her son, Erich Ott; granddaughter, Addison; sister, Valerie (Larry) Christenson; brother, Fred (Sue) Whitlark; aunt, Marianne Morrison; brother-in-law, Mel (Gina) Ott; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hermes; sisters of the heart, Betty Van Someren and Sue Zwald; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and generations of Plum City Blue Devils alumni.
