Mary J. Fredrickson (Holmgreen) died suddenly at home on September 27, 2015. She was born on January 3, 1949 to Edwin and Marion (Faldet) Holmgreen in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. She grew up in Merrillan, Wisconsin graduating from Lincoln High School in Alma Center in 1967. She worked in the health care field for several years and married Bernard Fredrickson on March 29, 1974 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Mary gave birth to her daughter, Anne on February 27, 1977. She decided that she needed more challenging work so she became a stay-at-home mom. She moved to California with her family in 1982 residing there until 1996. She was active in her church, St. Clements by the Sea, serving as senior warden as well as being a member of the altar guild.
Upon her family’s return to Wisconsin she became active in a number of churches as they moved around the state. She attended Grace Episcopal in Menomonie, Wisconsin; Trinity Lutheran in Lake Nebagamon; and Church of the Intercession in Stevens Point.
She loved sewing, spending time with her family, playing piano and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne; her stepdaughters: Rachel Plesha, Colleen Elonen, Julie Fender; her sons-in-law: Gregory Elonen, Mark Fender, Daniel Renc; her two granddaughters: Grace Elonen, Alayna Fender; her five grandsons: Hunter and Grant Plesha, Eric Elonen, Derek and David Fender; her sister Karen (Dennis) Karlstad; her nieces Mari Karlstad, Lisa Holmgreen, her nephews Paul Karlstad, Rick Sandwick, Tony Sandwick, and Tom Holmgreen and her husband’s nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Michael Holmgreen.
A funeral service for Mary and her husband Bernard will be held at the Church of the Intercession in Stevens Point, WI on October 3, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Mother Jane Johnson presiding.
Bernard Robert Fredrickson
Bernard Robert Fredrickson died on September 26, 2015 at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, Wisconsin after a brief illness.  He was born on October 19, 1938 to Russell and Marie Fredrickson in Durand, Wisconsin. He graduated from Durand High School in 1956. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he obtained a B.S. in Economics in 1960.  He obtained a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1963.
On June 15, 1963 he married Wanita Doughty with whom he had three daughters: Rachel Plesha, Colleen Elonen, and Julie Fender.  He practiced law in Superior for a number of years with Foley, Davis, Fredrickson, Weiby & Witkin. He married Mary Holmgreen on March 29, 1974 with whom he had one daughter: Anne Renc. He left law practice in 1978 and joined VEREX. In 1982 he was hired by AMBAC where he sold Municipal Bond Insurance for the next 17 years. He relocated to California in 1982 with his wife and daughter.  Upon returning to Wisconsin he practiced law in Menomonie until he permanently retired in 2002.
He spent his last years enjoying his grandchildren, playing golf with his brother Jim and watching any sporting match known to man with a particular love for Wisconsin teams.  He is survived by his four daughters, his sons-in-law: Gregory Elonen, Mark Fender, Daniel Renc; his two granddaughters: Grace Elonen, Alayna Fender; his five grandsons: Hunter and Grant Plesha, Eric Elonen, Derek and David Fender; his four brothers: James (Kay) Fredrickson, Richard (Marlene) Fredrickson; Timothy (Jennifer) Brantner, Jerry (Maureen) Brantner; his two sisters: Patricia (Jerry) Frion, Kathleen (Tom) Baker; his sister-in-law Jean Fredrickson and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Julius Brantner, and brother Bill Fredrickson.
