Michael J. “Bones” Brunner

Michael J. “Bones” Brunner, 76, of Durand, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Dove healthcare West in Eau Claire, Wisconsin with his wife Karlan (Woods) Brunner at his side.
He was born on May 7, 1950, to Edward and Irene (Fedie) Brunner, the youngest boy of their six children. He grew up on the family farm that was next to Lima Church. He graduated from Durand High School in 1969. Bones worked in many jobs throughout his life from heavy equipment operator, and truck driver. He was good at mowing ditches and loved to coach basketball.
He married Karlan Woods February 21, 1974. Together they adopted a daughter, Tracey ( Duane Anderson ) and a son, James.
Michael is survived by his wife, Karlan; their children; four grandsons, Cody, Mason , Dallas and Skylar; two sisters, Marlene (Jerry Dammen) and Rita (Kendall Lawrenz); a brother, Stanley (Lorna); brother-in-law, Dick Fritz, and by many nieces, and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia (Virgie) Taylor Fritz; brother and sister-in-law, Derald and Margie Brunner; two nephews, Greg and Tony; and father and mother-in-law, Buddy and Betty Woods.
Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Harvestime Eleva – South in Eleva, WI. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the church.
