Pepin Police Department upgrades cruiser
The Pepin Police Department put a new cruiser into service in late January.
The Department purchased the 2015 Ford Police Interceptor as a budgeted item, and was able to pay for all of the needed equipment with highway safety grants awarded in the last couple of years.
Pepin Police Chief Jesse Van Alstine said the cruiser features a more modern graphic, as well as a new siren, cage, and light bar.
Another change from the 2007 car the cruiser is replacing, is that the vehicle offers all-wheel drive and more space for equipment.
“The State of Wisconsin is switching from radio-wave communication to internet,” Van Alstine said. “It’s hard to get all of the necessary equipment in a car.”
Van Alstine said the previous cruiser was eight years old, and had seen better days.
