Robert Henry Zich, age 68, of Maiden Rock, WI, died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his home following a courageous battle against cancer.
Bob was born in Eau Claire, WI on February 5, 1946, the son of Edward and Cecelia (Boernke) Zich. He was a graduate of Eau Claire Memorial High School and later served in the US Army. During his Army service, he was deployed to Vietnam and spent one year there.
He married Jacqueline Forcier and they later divorced. He married Marsha Swanson Edblom on June 22, 1991 at Sabylund Lutheran Church, Stockholm, WI. Bob and Marsha have lived on their rural farm near Maiden Rock until the time of his death.
Bob was a member of and worked out of UA Local 434 from 1965 until his retirement in March, 2006. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement and was always involved in projects at home and in the community. He loved to hunt and fish and looked forward to his annual trips to Canada with his friends. He was a generous man and gave of his time, talents, and resources willingly.
He was a member of Sabylund Lutheran Church and was involved with many church projects throughout the years.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Marsha, Maiden Rock, WI.
Children: Kurt (Donna Leshock) Zich, Eau Claire, WI; Jeffrey (Tiffany) Edblom, Hudson, WI; and Tara (Mitchell) Bergeson, Stoughton, WI.
Five grandchildren: Sarah Leshock, Keegan and Hayden Edblom, and Samuel and Sadie Bergeson.
One brother and three sisters: Gale (Beverly) Zich, Marsyl (Juel) Caspersen, Marian Nordin, and Margaret (Mike) Fiore.
He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Jane, brother, Richard, and Marsha’s son, Ryan Edblom.
Funeral services for Bob will be at 11a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2014 at Sabylund Lutheran Church, Lund, WI. Burial in the church cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and for one hour prior to the funeral on Monday.
Military honors will be provided by the veterans of William E. Geer, American Legion Post #158, Maiden Rock, WI.
Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, WI, is serving the family.
