Sharon Joyce Owen

Sharon Joyce Owen (79) of Durand, WI passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand. She was born June 3, 1939 in Buffalo County, WI; daughter of Arnold E. and Eleanor B. (Kothbauer) Olson. She lived one year in Urne, WI. The family moved to a farm in Menomonie the next year. She attended “Little Elk Creek” country grade school and Menomonie High School. She graduated from high school in 1957. Following high school she was employed at the Bank of Menomonie.
On May 23, 1959 she married Roger Owen at the Little Elk Creek Church in rural Menomonie. They farmed at “Sunny Ridge Farms” in Durand. Sharon enjoyed ceramics, collecting Beanie Babies and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved decorating and entertaining family for the holidays.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Owen of Durand; daughters, Cindy Bauer (Dave Olson) of Durand, WI; Lisa (Mike) Glaus of Rosemount, MN; son, Jeffrey (Heather) Owen of Durand, WI; grandchildren, Brandon Bauer (Joy Woodman), Garrett ( Casie) Glaus, Brianna Glaus, Gavin Owen and Alyssa Owen; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Eleanor (Kothbauer) Olson; brothers, Clinton L., Russell, Merlin, Clinton D.; sister, Lorraine Grutt; son-in-law, Kevin Bauer.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Lyster Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Vetsch officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
