Susan Jean Doney

Susan Jean Doney, 75, of Eau Claire, passed away on August 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Susan was born on March 21, 1951, in Durand, WI, to Norman and Verta Smith. She graduated from Durand High School in 1969, followed by school in Minneapolis for key punching. She later married David Dolloff, with whom she built a family and raised their children, Teri and Matthew. Together, they shared many years of love and memories. David preceded her in death in 2002.
In 2006, Susan married Michael Doney, with whom she shared the remaining 20 years of her life. They enjoyed time with family, going to social events, and traveling to Door County.
Susan spent much of her retirement enjoying her family and friends. She could often be seen with crochet hooks in her hands while watching Hallmark or black-and-white films or playing Farmville on her computer. Weekends were often spent baking, making jokes, and having sleep-overs filled with magic with her many, many grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
Susan is survived by her husband, Michael Doney; her children, Teri (Terry) Slifer, Matthew (Liz) Dolloff, Andrew Doney, Lori (Pat) Esser, and Erin (Brian) Cianciolo; her siblings; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, David Dolloff; her parents, Norman and Verta Smith; and her brother-in-law, Randy Girard.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2026, at Chippewa Valley Cremation Services – Celebration of Life Center in Altoona. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the Celebration of Life Center. Burial will be private at Forest Hill Cemetery in Durand, WI.
