Winifred “Winnie” (Rogers-Lund) Fossum

Winifred “Winnie” (Rogers-Lund) Fossum, age 91, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
Winnie was born to Vern “Duke” and Hazel Rogers on May 5, 1926, in West Allis, Wisconsin.
After graduating from West Allis Hale High School, Winnie earned her Bachelor’s of Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Masters of Nursing from the University of MN.
Winnie was a nursing instructor at Luther Hospital and the University of Eau Claire. She loved teaching and was an instrumental person in so many nursing students’ lives.
Winnie actively served her community in a number of ways; volunteering many hours at the food shelf in Durand and volunteering at Northwest Hospice. She was an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church and served on the Ladies Guild.
Winnie is survived by her husband, Otis. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Winnie was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lund; parents, Vern “Duke” and Hazel Rogers.
Winnie was a warm and thoughtful person, helping neighbors and friends anyway that she could. She loved to bake, can, knit, do hardanger embroidery, golf, and garden. Winnie will be greatly missed by her family and many friends for her warm smile and her laughter.
Memorial service will take place at 11 am on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, N1101 810th St, Mondovi, WI 54755 with the Pastor Valerie Peterson officiating. Memorial visitation will take place at the church on Friday, December 15, 2017, from 10-11 am at the church. Committal services will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
