Isabelle Olivia (Izzie) Timm
Our mom Isabelle Olivia (Izzie) Timm finished her life journey on Monday July 27, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the lavender Victorian House she called home in Utica, MN. During the last seven days of her life she was where she wanted to be and surrounded in love by her children, friends and neighbors as she finished her journey.
Izzie was born April 5, 1934 to Louis and Virgina (Fraser) Fiddler in Maidstone, Saskatchewan, in Canada. She was born a twin along with brother Vern. Izzie moved to Rochester, MN and worked as a nanny and was also employed by Dayton’s before her marriage to Everett Timm. She became a naturalized American citizen in the early 1960’s
Izzie Timm was a vivacious, active person who lived in Utica since her marriage to Everett on February 2, 1957. She and Everett ran a beef and crop farm for most of their marriage, and raised 3 children – Cindy, Barb and Craig. Izzie was also “Mom” to two exchange students – Emiko Shimada of Japan and Eyal Lilling of Israel. Everett died in 2004 and Izzie was determined to keep busy with life after his passing.
Izzie was a 37-year employee of Herff Jones, a school photo processing company in Lewiston, but was also involved in her local community. She joined First Presbyterian Church of Utica on December 10, 1957 serving as both an elder and deacon, was a head election judge for the City of Utica, worked in auxiliary groups at local nursing homes and was a member of the Utica Cancer group, who held various dinners to raise money for the Eagle’s Cancer Telethon.
Another passion for Izzie was the Winona County Fair where she served as an art exhibit superintendent for more than 30-years, and was an amateur artist who won numerous ribbons at the fair over the years. She was also honored at the fair with the Century Farm Award in 2011, named to the Winona County Fair Hall of Fame in 2016 and was a recipient of the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award 2022.
Izzie loved singing, her favorite music being barbershop and also “Elvis” music. She sang with Sweet Adeline choruses beginning in 1973, and ended her Sweet Adeline career with the Twin Cities Show Chorus being recognized as a 50-year Sweet Adeline member in 2023. Over the years she participated in International Sweet Adeline competitions with her chorus in Honolulu and Nashville, and in June 2017 the group headed off to perform in Branson, MO.
Our Mom also traveled the world with trips to South Africa, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and Mexico. She also loved cruises and saw the Caribbean and Alaska and took her most recent cruise in February 2025.
Izzie is survived by her children – Cynthia of Utica, Barbara Forsythe of Winona and Craig (Kelly Hoffman) of Utica, and two siblings – Georginia Bamping and Larry Fiddler, both of Canada. She was proceeded in death by her husband Everett, son-in-law Michael Forsythe, parents Louis and Virgina Fiddler, father-in-law and mother-in-law Philip and Alma Timm, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Doris Timm and siblings Vern, Robert, Don, Lynette and Clarence.
Funeral service were held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 and she was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Utica, MN.
