Eileen L. Streveler

Eileen L. Streveler, age 95 of Eau Claire passed away on Friday afternoon, July 31 at Dove Healthcare West, sur-rounded by her loving family. Eileen was born on March 22, 1931 in Cady township, St. Croix County, WI to Frank and Clara (Zakrzewski) Schultz. She graduated from Spring Valley High School (WI) in 1949. Shortly after graduation, Eileen moved to Eau Claire, where she worked in the busi-ness office at Sacred Heart Hospital for several years.On June 25, 1952 Eileen married Harold Streveler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley WI. Over the following years, Eileen and Harold were blessed with 4 children, Allan (1953), Dennis (1954), Randal (1960) and Lori Ann (1966). They shared 67 years together until Harold’s passing in 2019.Eileen and Harold enjoyed travel throughout the years. First, family road trips to places such as the Black Hills, several camping trips to north-ern WI and Canada. In later years they traveled to Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, and many “long weekends” to Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Branson MO. One particularly memorable road trip was in 1967 where they traveled with the entire family, to Florida for Eileen’s brother Jim’s wedding.Family was very important to Eileen and Harold, and there were frequent Sunday visits back to Eileen’s home farm, as well as many Streveler get-to-gethers (most of whom lived in the Eau Claire area).Perhaps more than anything, Eileen will be remembered for her love of anything green. She tended a rather large garden for many years, resulting in a huge stash of canned green beans, pickles, tomatoes, beets, etc but It was her flowers, and house plants that she really loved, even into her later years. The outside of her home was always beautiful and inviting as a result.Eileen and Harold were long-time members of St. James the Greater Parish in Eau Claire.Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Clara Schultz, her husband Harold, her brother, Francis {Bud) Schultz, and a son, Randal. She is survived by 3 children: Allan (Sharon) of Wabasha, MN, Dennis (Trish} of Eau Claire, and Lori of Eau Claire. 3 grandchildren: Michael (Katie) of Nelson, WI, Abbie Kwiatkowski of Osseo, WI, Tracy Streveler, Osseo, WI., and 5 great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren. Eileen is survived by a brother, James Schultz (Nan-cy) of Carolina Shores, North Carolina, and a sister-in-law, Karen Streveler of Colfax, WI.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St. Eau Claire, WI 54703.A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, August 7 at 11:00am at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St. Eau Claire, WI with Father Thomas Krieg officiating. Visitation will precede the Mass, starting at 10:00am at the church. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery. Lunch will follow back at St. James the Greater Church cafeteria. The Hulke Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services is serving the family.
