Back where she belongs?

The American Queen made a beautiful sight for motorists crossing the Clickner Memorial Bridge over the Mississippi River last week. It is shown here docked just upstream from the bridge Thursday morning. The AQ was here from Wednesday afternoon to around midnight Thursday.

The American Queen rests along the shore just above the Clickner Memorial Bridge Wednesday afternoon for an overnight stay on what was supposed to have been a seven-day cruise from St. Paul to St. Louis. The voyage was shortened in length, however, because high water downstream from La Crosse limited clearances on some of the bridges. What a beautiful sight it was sitting here again! Passengers debark the American Queen Wednesday afternoon to go on shore tours…some on foot in Wabasha, others by bus around the area. Five busses were in town during the visit to transport passengers to the many area sights and attractions.
