Arden (Ardie) Gaylan Jurgenson Jr.
Arden (Ardie) Gaylan Jurgenson Jr. died May 8, 2016 at 9:35am at his home with his family around him at the age of 84 years, 4 days. Ardie was born May 4, 1932 in Clarkfield Minnesota to Arden and Gladys (Westre) Jurgenson. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1950. He served in the army from 1953-55. Ardie graduated Northwestern TV and Electronics School in 1957. On June 15, 1958 he married Janice Peterson of Montevideo. They moved to Plainview in 1959. Ardie was employed at IBM and after retirement, Schad and Zabel Funeral Home.
Ardie was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Promise Keepers, Gideon’s, Saturday Bible Study, American Legion, Eldernet, Lions Club, and the GOP. He also served on the St. Isidore’s Board. As a member of the Lions Club, he received the Melvin Jones Award for Humanitarian Service. He worked on Habitat for Humanity, Plainview Pool, Plainview Golf Course, and other local projects.
He is survived by his wife Janice of Plainview; son Mark (Karen ) Jurgenson of Plainview, daughter Julie Jurgenson of Plainview, daughter Kimberly (Jurgenson) Runyan of Minneapolis, son Kent (Yvette) Jurgenson of Mason, OH., seven grandchildren, Alex, Kody, Larissa, Kali, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Camille, one great granddaughter, Kennedy; brothers, Richard and Howard, sister Caron, and several nieces and nephews.
Ardie was preceded in death by his parents Arden and Gladys, brothers Roland and Larry and sister Jeanne.
Funeral service is Saturday, May 14, 11:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Plainview with Rev. John Curtiss officiating. Burial with military grave side rites conducted by the Plainview American Legion will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation is Friday, 5-8 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
