Barbara Lee (Schuchard) Carrels

Barbara Lee (Schuchard) Carrels, 66, passed away on October 31, 2023, with her family by her side at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center. She was born July 4, 1957, to Frederick and Velate (Uthke) Schuchard, Jr. in Wabasha, MN. Barbara graduated from Elgin-Millville High School in 1977. She married Frank Carrels in 1990 and later divorced. She resided in Lake City with a special friend, Robert Laska.
Barbara worked for many years at Heat N Glo and retired from Federal Mogul in 2020. Barb loved camping, fishing, visiting her favorite casinos, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She camped for many years at Shades of Sherwood, Haycreek Valley Campground, and Bluff Valley Campground. She loved taking casino Trips with friends and was always planning the next trip.
Barb is survived by daughters, Jennifer (Jeremy) Kahl and Tiffany Carrels, both of Lake City; four grandchildren, Teyla, Kaden, Ava, and Sammilee; siblings, Sharon (Joe) Rahrman, Janette (Paul) Briggs, Russell (Mary) Schuchard, Donald (Lisa) Schuchard, Carol (Joe) Lambrecht, Dorothy (Jack) Diedrich, Dennis (Pam) Schuchard, Frank (Cindy) Schuchard, John (Kim) Schuchard. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew.
Friends and family may gather for a Celebration of Life on Friday, November 10, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel.
