Edward Matthew Lyons

“Say it isn’t so” Edward Matthew Lyons passed away on May 24th, 2020 at the age of 78. He was “coming out of chute #39 riding wildfire” on January 16th, 1942 born to Matthew and Ila (Irish) Lyons. He married his “Sweetie” Sally Cook on May 4th, 1963(you do the math) and is survived by his four children Michael (Joanie) Lyons, Tracy (Gary) Terhaar, Melissa Lyons and Susan (Joe) Atkinson. He was known as “Grumpy” to his 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ed is also survived by his siblings Sandy Steffen, Rich (Tera) Lyons, and Theresa (Smiley) Loomis and was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Lingen.
Ed graduated from Plainview High School in 1960 with many honors (Yes Sir Your Honor) and “let me tell you this about that” Ed was a lifelong business owner in Plainview¸ belonged to the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the “Bitters Club” just to name a few. He loved spending time with his family and many friends (you know who you are) he met over the years and is well known for all of his one-liners.
There will be a private ceremony with immediate family. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
“Everybody’s got to believe in something. I believe I’ll have another Budweiser!”
RIP Ed …. Dad …. Grumpy! We love you!
