High Plains gives back millions $ in equity retirement
By Josh Hall, Staff Reporter
On March 3, 2015 High Plains Co-Operative held their 84th Annual Meeting of Equity Holders in the Immanuel Lutheran School gymnasium. The meeting started with socializing among each other while enjoying a delicious catered lunch of hot, pulled-pork sandwiches, potato salad, cookies and milk or coffee by Bennett’s Food Center of Plainview.
This year, High Plains Co-Op gave out approximately $3.4 million in equity retirement funds to 7,196 individuals. The monies returned were for local equity earned through 2008.
With about 100 people present, the meeting was called to order by Dwain Hassig. Mike Zabel read the minutes from last years meeting, and Ron Hennen of Hennen & Associates delivered the Audit Report, followed by the election of directors and the managers report. They also had a drawing, giving away items from free meals and gift certificates to bird feeders and boot dryers for door prizes.
While announcing years of services, Mr. Wayne Scheffler was presented with a 20 Year Service award. Congratulations Mr. Scheffler.
After the drawing and the award handed out, a motion was called to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned, but several people stayed behind to chat and catch up.
