Margaret “Peggy” E. Grobe

The funeral service for Margaret “Peggy” E. Grobe will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 23rd, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church – West Albany in rural Millville, with Father Joseph Pete officiating.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery – West Albany.

Mrs. Grobe, 80, of Plainview and formerly of Millville, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. Isidore Health Care Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.

Peggy was born July 7, 1934 in St. Paul, the daughter of Alphonse and Josephine Lucker.  She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Agnes High School.  She continued her education at St. Gabriel’s School of Nursing in Little Falls, and then worked at Olmsted Community Hospital in Rochester.  In 1957, Peggy was united in marriage to Donald Grobe.  Together they owned a dairy and beef farm and raised 11 children.  After their children were grown, she returned to her love of nursing, working in a foster care center for developmentally challenged children.  Peggy had a strong faith and was involved for many years with St. Patrick’s Catholic Church as Rosary President and Religious Coordinator.  She was her children’s biggest supporter from attending sporting events to teaching life lessons.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spending time with family and friends.

Peggy is survived by her children, Jan Grobe (Doran Dorman) of Plainview; Pat Humphrey of Rochester; Mary Sender (Chuck) of Ossian, IA; Barb Tieskoetter (Paul) of Rochester; Jim Grobe (Julie) of Millville; Joe Grobe (Kim) of Millville; Michelle Weisz (Jeff) of Plainview; Deana Grobe (Kenny Faase) of Corvallis, OR; Lori Waller (Matt) of Glenview, IL; Suanne Ranheim (James) of Spooner, WI; and Joanne Grobe (Kate) of Minneapolis.  She was blessed with 19 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.  Peggy is also survived by her sister Mary Jo (Frank) Haggerty of Roseville; and special friends, Bob and Ann Ryan of Rochester.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald on January 12, 2013, step-dad Joe, three brothers, Don, Bishop Raymond, and Jerry, and one sister Rosemary.

Friends and family may visit from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22nd, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church – West Albany in rural Millville, and one hour prior to the service at the Church.
