Mark Lloyd Loftus

On Friday November 20th, 2020 a soldier was called home. Mark Lloyd Loftus (70) lost his final battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma from agent orange. Mark was a simple man who loved nothing more than serving his country and loving his family. You never saw him without his wife Patty by his side, and he spent his most cherished time with his two sons, grandkids and close friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and 4wheeling with close friends.
Mark was born on July 1st, 1950 in Waterloo, IA and graduated from St. Charles, MN in 1968. After high school Mark enlisted in the United States Navy (1969-1975) and spent time aboard the USS Oriskany (CV-34) as an ABH and on shore duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy he returned home and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1976-1992. During his time in the Army he completed two tours to Germany, spent 3 years as a Drill Sergeant in Fort Leonard, MO and deployed from Fort Brag, NC with his troops November 1990 in the middle of the night for Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged from the Army and moved back to Minnesota with his family in 1992. While in the service he married the love of his life Patty Walch on December 14th, 1974 and later had two sons Shane and Dustin. Upon their return home in 1992 Mark began working at Lakeside Foods and later at Road Constructors until his retirement.
Mark is survived by his wife Patty Walch Loftus, two sons Shane & Niki ( LaRocque) & Dustin Loftus & Jamie Groebner, his 7 grandchildren Braelon, Teagan, Evelyne, Isabell, Liam, Ava & Cutler, his siblings, Chris Splittstoesser, John & Pam Loftus, Greg & Rita Loftus, Bob Loftus, Pete & Karen Loftus, Jerry & Theresa (Loftus) McKay, his in laws, Donald & Marilyn Walch, Dave & Peggy Walch, Bryon & Nancy Walch Carlson, Maria Walch, Jim & Sue Walch, Jerome & Julie Walch, Bob & Teresa Kreofsky, Ken & Jane Kreofsky, Tim & Kathy Tucker, Don & Jacqueline Schroeder and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Lloyd & Evelyne Loftus, two brothers Tim and David Loftus, his mother and father in law, Lavern & Vera Walch, brother-in law Jerry Walch and sister- in -law Susan Nienow.
A private service will be held at Schad & Zabel funeral home & St. Joachim Church in Plainview on Wednesday November 25th, followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview with military graveside rites conducted by the Plainview American Legion.
