Mary (nee Erickson) Ferguson
Mary (nee Erickson), 93, entered the presence of the Lord on February 23rd, 2016 surrounded by family. A graduate of Plainview High School and Winona State Teachers College, she taught in area schools for many years.
She married Irvie Ferguson in 1944. They lived in Viola for 55 years before moving to Shorewood Place (Rochester) in 2001. An avid Twins fan, she enjoyed family celebrations, quilting, Bible study groups, reading, and board games. For many years she was an active member of the Viola Gopher Gals and in 1983 she and Irvie were the king and queen of the annual Viola Gopher Count Celebration. Her vibrant Christian faith influenced many lives as shown through her hospitality, selflessness, cheerfulness, and optimistic sweet personality.
Preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Irvie and brother, Jim Erickson. Survived by daughters, Diane (Harvey) Lovejoy and Cheryl (Jim) Golla; sons, Dr. Dennis (Lynn) Ferguson and Randy (Reneé) Ferguson; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Also, sisters Phyllis Enabnit, Betty Harcey and Marge Butler.
Special thanks to Pastors Chuck Coggins and Kevin Kastler, Mayo NE Dialysis Center, and Seasons Hospice. Funeral Services was held on February 27th, 2016 at the Plainview Church of Christ, 205 1st Street NE at 12:00 p.m. Visitation 2 hours prior.
