Regina Ann Leisen – Plainview
Regina Ann Leisen, 81, passed away at her home on Thursday, May 5, 2016.
Regina was born in Winona County on October 12, 1934. She was the eldest child of Evabell (Davidshofer) and Gregory Kramer. Regina graduated from St. Charles HS in 1952 and from St. Theresa’s College Winona in 1956 with a nursing degree. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital Rochester as a nursing instructor for the College of St. Theresa.
Regina married Joseph Henry Leisen on September 19, 1957 at St. Aloysius in Elba, MN. They moved to the current family farm south of Plainview, MN in 1960. Together, over the next 59 years, they raised 10 children and were blessed with 23 grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Joseph and her 10 children: Ann (Paul) Kreiser, Vadnais Heights; Julie (Mark) Lemke, Shoreview; Alan (Janet) Leisen, Plainview; Bob Leisen, Plainview; Tom (Thea) Leisen, Plainview; Mary (Dewey) Lenz, Marshfield WI; Rich (Monica) Leisen, Duval WA; Kathy (Joe) Ellefson, Marshfield WI; Jenny (Jeff) Brosz, Shakopee; Carol (Barrett) Olk, Eden Prairie. Grandchildren: Aaron, Molly, Jack, Jan, Dominic, Alana, Andrea, Erin, Elliott, Emma, Ben, Bridget, Johanna, Lukas, David, Jackson, Cole, Drew, Trey, Carson, Lauren, Ryan and Allison.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Leonard. She is survived by her siblings Edward (JoAn) Kramer of St. Charles, Mildred (Stanley) Dee of Rochester, Lucille (Thomas) Helfter of Le Center, Leo (Donna) Kramer of St. Charles and Joan Pollema of St. Charles.
Regina was the heart and soul of the family’s life on the dairy and crop farm. Not only was she a steady source of love for her children and spouse, she dedicated her life to serving others. She hosted huge family gatherings, provided meals for many from her bountiful garden, supported and coordinated daily farm activities and was a committed member of St. Joachim’s parish. Regina was a most loving mother and grandmother who lived her life teaching, guiding and caring for family and friends. She did all this while making God the center of our lives.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 8 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Schad and Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and again on May 9 at St. Joachim’s Church in Plainview, one hour before the funeral.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St Joachim’s Catholic Church, Plainview, MN. , with Father William Becker officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joachim's Catholic Cemetery.
