Wilma D. Betterley

Wilma D. Betterley, age 96 of North Branch formerly of South St. Paul passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Parmly on the Lake in Chisago City.
Wilma was born on February 2, 1924 in Plainview, Minnesota to parents, William and Lydia (Schwantz) Kurth. She attended Plainview Schools and later married Russell Betterley and they spent 60 years together before Russell passed away in December 2008. They purchased a home and settled in South St. Paul where they lived for many years. Wilma worked at Armour Meat Co. before taking a job as a housekeeper at the Radisson Hotel in St. Paul where she worked for 30 years. Wilma loved flowers and gardening, time with her grandchildren, Jaime and Nickolas and visiting her son Denny’s house in the country where she found peace and tranquility.
Wilma is survived by her two sons, Roger Betterley of Farmington and Denny Betterley of North Branch; grandchildren, Nickolas and Jaime. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell and brother, Donald Kurth.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund with Rev. Marla Amborn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as honorary casket bearers are Roger Betterley, Nickolas Betterley, Vern Miller and Steve Dettling.
Due to Corvid 19 flowers cannot be accepted and the family wishes any donations be directed to the Special Olympics in Wilma’s name.
