E-S School Board holds summer meetings, receive enrollment update
CENTRAL - As the new school year begins, the Eleva-Strum School District is planning for a total preliminary enrollment of 315 students in its elementary school. This estimate was made at one of two meetings held by the Central School Board during the summer.
The breakdown of the student enrollment numbers were as follows: 4K: 44 students, 5K: 43 students; Grade 1: 46 students; Grade 2: 46 students; Grade 3: 48 students; Grade 4: 44 students and Grade 5: 44 students
The final count won't be know until the beginning of October as student move-ins and move-outs affect the numbers but school administrators believe the final number of elementary school students is expected to remain close to the current projection. Open enrollment trends, with Osseo-Fairchild and Mondovi now offering full-day 4K programs beginning this school year will also be looked at.
Enrollment numbers were discussed at the July meeting of the Board. Also on the agenda and acted on were approving the approve the resignation of Katie Vuchetich, Elementary School Teacher; approving the hires of approve the hire of Haley Rick, Elementary School Teacher and Mike Ausen, Assistant High School Football Coach; Adam Zwiefelhofer, Assistant High School Football Coach; and Nadine
Rovang, Assistant High School Football Coach; approve the designation of official district depositories, newspaper of record, and school attorneys for the 2026-2027 school year which were CCF Bank; Tri-County Area Times and Strang Law, LLC; approve the 2026-2027 District Activities Policy; approve the 2026-20247 District Academic Standards and waving second reading an approving all policies drawn up by Neola Inc., a Milwaukee-based education company which draws up legal policies for state school boards and districts.
During the June meeting of the Board, school breakfast and lunch for the current school year now underway were set. They are the same as a year ago: Elementary and Middle School Breakfast: $1.80; High School Breakfast: $1.90; Adult Breakfast: $2.35; Elementary and Middle School Lunch: $2.95; High School Lunch: $3.05 and Adult Lunch: $3.95.
Also acted upon in the June meeting were approving the resignations of Autumn Young, Pep Club Advisor; and Traci Marsolek, High School Student Council Advisor; approving the hire of Desirae
Nichols, High School English Teacher; and all the 2026-2027 Co-Curricular Assignments; approving the district's property and liability insurance renewals with Spectrum Insurance; approve the 2026-2027 Athletic
Training Contract with Pank Chiropractic; approve the continuation of the contract for physical therapy services with the Osseo-Fairchild School District; transferring surplus funds to Fund 46
and if budget projections change, covering any deficits with the fund balance. The Board also approved a preliminary budget for the 2026-27 school year.
