Family Vies Against Family During Chili Cookoff!

ALMA CENTER - What an amazing night for the Chili Cookoff/Euchre Tournament on Saturday February 8 at the VFW Hall in Alma Center. Chili cook-off participants were invited to bring the heat with a 6 qt. crock pot of their favorite chili recipe and compete for Chefs Best. There were 9 different chili recipes entered and for only $5, hungry eaters to got an opportunity to sample and judge.

#1: Jeremy and Kielyn Rowekamp with their famous Daddy and Daughter Big Rib BBQ Chili.

The top winning recipe was a team effort. Jeremy slow cooked ribs coated in mustard and his secret seasoning rub on the grill and mixed the rib meat with bacon, baked beans, black beans, tomatoes, and Kielyn's secret seasonings. The exact seasonings in this prize winning recipe? The world may never know!
The Euchre Tournament for a $10 entry fee began at 6 p.m.

DJ Dave Aldach played songs throughout the evening. The VFW hosted a 50/50 raffle and shared proceeds with FFA alumni. Money will be used for agriculture education at Lincoln schools.
Thank you to the contestants who brought the amazing chili, Kwik Trip for milk donations, Krista Rowekamp for designing the prize aprons, Lincoln Tech Ed. Class for making the cutting boards, Lucas Peterson for organizing Euchre Tournament and Lincoln FFA Alumni/ Alma Center VFW members for creating this fun evening.
