Osseo atop of CRBL South Division before All-Star Game
The Osseo Merchants have a half-game lead on the Eau Claire Cavaliers in the Chippewa River Baseball League's South Division after winning their fifth straight league game on Tuesday, June 30.
The Merchants traveled to Whitehall for a rescheduled contest with the Whitetails at Melby Park and won 9-3. Osseo outhit Whitehall also by a 9-3 count led by three hits from Alex Byom, including a home run and two RBIs. His hot bat over the past month has been a big reason Osseo has gone from 3-3 to start the 2026 season to 8-3 in the CRBL South. Byom also scored twice as did Scott Hovell. Byom was alson on the mound and struck out 11 Whitetail batters. The Merchants tied the game with three runs in the fourth and scored six unanswered runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings.

Augusta remained winless in league play as they fell to the Eau Claire Bears in Altoona on Wednesday, July by a 13-2 score. The A's had eight hits led by J. Wright and J. Myrold's doubles, plus two RBIs by A. Jaggar. But three errors along with 13 hits for the Bears put Augusta at a big disadvantage. The Bears also hit five doubles in the ballgame.
Beef River fell below the .500 mark in league play as they were swept in a doubleheader at home Sunday, June 28 by Cadott. The Red Sox easily won Game 1 in five innings 14-1. In Game 2, BR held a 5-3 lead but the visitors scored six runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to get the win. 14 hits given up, including four home runs, plus four errors on the Bullfrogs part proved costly. Austin Baker hit a double for the 'Frogs and Lucas Johnson had two hits for the home team and an RBI. Logan Burzynski and Cole Bakkum both had three hits each for Cadott.
The CRBL All-Star Game is in Augusta this year, part of the Bean N' Bacon Festival at Jan Krueger Park. The game begins at 7 p.m. and a Hall of Fame induction ceremony is part of the festivities.
