Betty Lamey, 71, Kellogg

 Betty Lamey, age 71, of Kellogg, died peacefully at Lake Winona Manor in Winona where she resided the past two years. She was born March 11, 1946 in Winona, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Ziebell) Peterson. She was a graduate of Wabasha High School. She married John Lamey October 29, 1966 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minneiska. Betty was a homemaker and together the couple farmed the Lamey family farm located in Indian Creek in rural Kellogg. Betty also cooked in Kellogg for the SEMCAC program and later she worked in the bakery at Scheel’s Super Valu in Wabasha. John died May 17, 2002.
 She was an active member of the Weaver United Methodist Church and the Kellogg American Legion Post #546 Auxiliary. For many years she served as sexton for Evergreen Cemetery in Minneiska. Betty enjoyed playing cards and cooking for her family and friends especially those who would come every autumn to the farm to deer hunt. She especially enjoyed visiting and spending time with her children and grandchildren and her many friends. Betty was a friend to many. No one had a bigger heart and a caring soul. Her smile and positive attitude will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
 Betty is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Tim Spring, Minnesota City, MN, Jane and David Schouweiler, Kellogg, MN; grandchildren, Dicey and Sam Spring, Minnesota City, MN; special nephew, Dean (Theresa) Stromness, Kellogg, MN and special cousin, Shirley (Jim) Gander, Kellogg, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, parents, Andrew and Margaret Peterson, half-brother, Milo Burgland and her beloved dog, Booty.
 A memorial service was held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00am at the Kellogg United Methodist Church with the Reverend Cheryl Nyman and Mr. Michael Murphy officiating. Interment followed at St. Felix Cemetery in Wabasha. Honorary bearers were Jim and Shirley Gander, Shorty and Louise Johnson and Andrew, Wyatt, Jorden and Aubrey Stromness. Family and friends called at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 2-5pm and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha was in charge of arrangements. www.abbottfh.com
