Charles Wildes

Chuck was born October 7, 1939, to Stanley and Mabel (Wodele) Wildes in Wabasha MN, the second of seven children. Chuck graduated from St. Felix High School in 1957.  He went on to attend St Mary’s in Winona, MN graduating in 1960 with a BA in Latin and Philosophy.  He lived in St. Paul working in sales and customer service until he moved to Sioux Falls, SD in the mid 60’s.  He worked as a court services officer from July 15, 1968 until he retired on September 28, 2001.  Chuck married Lois Pierson on April 8th 1978, which made them both exceedingly happy. 
Chuck enjoyed playing tennis, golf, swimming, road racing and reading as well as singing with the Sioux Emperians. Spending time with family, especially grand and great-grand children brought him great joy.  He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Golden Gophers and Timberwolves.
He shared his life with children Kim (Jeff) Wahl (Nilson), Kelly McDonald (Nilson), Shelly (Dan) Zens (Wildes), Kerry (Colleen) Nilson, Kevin (Heather) Nilson, and Rick (Brenda) Wildes; fifteen grandchildren Nathan McDonald, Megan McDonald, Lindsey McDonald, Joshua Nilson, Jordan Nilson, Caleb Nilson, Terra Nilson, Seth Nilson, Cora Nilson, Amy Wildes, Lee Wildes, Patricia Zens, Justein Zens, Nicole Zens, and Bridget Zens; as well as three great-grandchildren, Vincent Nilson, Oliver Zens and Presley Reaves.
Chuck’s surviving siblings include Jack (Bernie) Wildes, Bruce (Sue) Wildes, Jerry (Barb) Wildes, Joan Gilland, Paul (Louise) Wildes.   Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Lois, brother,  James and parents, Stanley and Mabel Wildes.
Memorial Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 South Main, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. Visitation will be at 3:00 pm, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, February 13, 2015, also at Miller Funeral Home.
