Dale Hickey

 Dale R. Hickey, age 74, of Wabasha, died Friday, January 30, 2015 at his home. He was born on the family farm in New Haven Township of Olmsted County, near Pine Island, December 7, 1940, the son of William and Anna (Feil) Hickey. He was a graduate of Pine Island High School. He later attended trade school for hairdressing. Dale owned and operated Dale’s Beauty Shop in Wabasha for many years. He married Dianne Eberhart May 16, 1963 at the Kellogg United Methodist Church in Kellogg. They later divorced.
 He enjoyed woodworking, duck and pheasant hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and cutting wood. He was devoted to his children and grandsons. He loved the sound of the wind and watching storms roll in from his porch. He was a friend to all creatures. He never wasted anything and his lifetime was largely spent trying to stay invisible. He was a gentle and kind man.
 Dale is survived by daughters, Angela Hickey Wills, Asheville, NC, Beth Hickey Jewson (Peter Crosbie), Wabasha, MN; three grandsons, Peter Wills, and Samuel and Maxwell Jewson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Gail Hickey and Milo and Roberta Hickey, Pine Island, MN, Kay Hickey, Camp Lacupolis, rural Lake City, MN; nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Dianne Klingsporn, Rochester, MN and his many loyal friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Hickey and one brother, Donald Hickey.
 In accordance with Dale’s wishes no services will be held at this time. A celebration of his life for his family and friends will be held at a later date. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha is in charge of arrangements. www.abbottfh.com
