Delphine J. Wobbe, 80, Dumfries

 Delphine J. Wobbe, age 80, of rural Dumfries, died of natural causes at her home on Saturday, September 2, 2017. She was born June 25, 1937 in the Town of Burnside, near Independence, WI, the daughter of Andrew and Rose (Ressel) Smieja. She graduated from Independence High School in 1955 and in 1956 she moved to Wabasha. Delphine worked as a nursing assistant at Buena Vista Nursing Home in Wabasha for several years and later worked as a cook at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center from 1977 until 1998 when she retired. Together she and Harry farmed the Wobbe family farm from 1964 until the present. She married Harry Wobbe October 19, 1957 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha. Harry died February 3, 2015.
 Delphine was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086 Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sandra and Tom Schmidt, Theilman, MN, Dale Wobbe, Lake City, MN, Betty and Eugene Lichtblau, Red Wing, MN, Paul and Tammy Wobbe, Wabasha, MN, Carol and Bruce Klassen, Plainview, MN; seven grandchildren, Danielle (Dennis) Diercks, Katie Lichtblau, Brittany (Jesse) Roemer, Tayler (Nolan) Burke, Zach Wobbe, and Chelsea and Ashley Klassen; two great-grandchildren, Hadley Roemer and Jackson Dierks; sister-in-law, Virginia Smieja, Independence, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her parents, Andrew and Rose Smieja, sisters, Dorothy Gunderson, Ruth Stalhiem, Martina Boberg, Irene Sobota, Katherine Saverinski, Angeline Smieja, Bernice Symicek and brother, Adrian Smieja.
 A funeral Mass was offered on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Reverend Monsignor Robert Meyer officiating. Interment followed at St. Felix Cemetery. Six of her nephews served as casket bearers. Family and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 9:00am until the time of the Mass.
